Childcare Assistant Position

Part-time: 5-6 hours, 2-4 days a week, depending on enrollment

Location: Mossy Hollow Nature School, Damascus, PA.

Start Date: June 1, 2026

Compensation: $18-$20/hour depending on education and experience

Role Summary
We are looking for a compassionate and attentive Childcare Assistant to join our team and help our program grow. The Childcare Assistant is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing environment that fosters learning and development for children aged 2.5-5 years.

The ideal candidate loves being outdoors and loves working with children! We are looking for someone who is kind, focused, creative, curious, adventurous, patient, and wants to work in a dynamic environment caring for children within the beauty of nature.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor the safety of children at all times while in the indoor space, outdoor classroom, and on walks in the forest.

  • Help children keep good hygiene (washing hands, etc.) and assist with personal care (e.g., diapering, potty training, putting on and removing outdoor gear, changing soiled clothes).

  • Maintain and assist in developing schedules and routines to ensure children have adequate physical activity, rest, and playtime.

  • Implement and assist in curating age-appropriate educational activities and lesson plans.

  • Communicate clearly and regularly with families regarding their child's progress and behavior.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in ECE are a plus.

  • Experience working with children.

  • Ability to pass all state-mandated background checks.

  • Able to complete mandatory health and safety training.

  • CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.

  • Patience, creativity, and strong communication skills.

  • Reliable transportation.
